'... Their latest double a-side single is a perfect taster for their debut album 'Headhunted -quality, quirky, melody-laced songs.

'... Then there are some stunning ballads too English Smile has a hint of Morrissey lingering in its delicate lyrics, while Last Forever is more sensitive than an open wound. Headhunted is like the last two decades of British guitar music distilled into one album, and yet itıs still so packed with commercial appeal. Yes, itıs decided. This is brilliant.'

Headhunted Review - 4/5 - Classic Rock, Feb '05 - (click for full review)
'... ‘English Smile’ has is a toasty warm acoustic strum along with gently brushed drums worthy of The Verve at the height of their powers. Single ‘Always’ sees Walter Heale’s voice ranging from raw throated rock god to strangulated XTC-esque yelp over throbbing guitars and tremulous Fender Rhodes drone...'

Walter's Guitar Collection - Guitar Magazine, Mar '05
A five page feature on Walter's guitar collection including a 1930's National Lap Steel and many more guitars that featured on the album 'Headhunted'.

Single Review, 'Always' - UV Magazine, Autumn '04
'
It does not surprise that Hipslinky have toured with the likes of Feeder and Athlete since their catchy guitar music happily seats them among the ever-burgeoning ensemble of radio friendly indie rock acts. Complete with a Franz Ferdinand-styled guitar explosion of a chorus, the single Always already sounds like a certified hit.
Hipslinky unmistakably sound like a contemporary version of U2, producing the kind of anthemic and epic sound you would expect from Bono if he were still in his twenties. Armed with confident vocals that dominate the track, Always is a bold and hyperactive song that flirts with elements of The Who to produce a great rock track that just begs to be danced to. The two other tracks on the single motion a more sensitive and contemplative mood, although they could quite possibly be singles in their own rights.

'The sweet sounds of Jeff Buckley, layers of warm guitars and the harsh edge of classic rock jostle for attention on this debut'

Bubblegum Slut Fanzine #17 - Headhunted Review
'...Refreshingly creatied out of a pure and obvious love of music this frequently transcends the boundaries of its genre, driven by sheer curiosity and will to experiment into unlikely, yet oddly workable soundscapes. If anything, this is ‘Headhunted’s strongest point, despite the wealth of musical prowess in the band it avoids becoming dully over technical as raw talent is matched with a vibrant passion and excitement leading to explosions of choruses and fidgety guitarlines brimming with volatile energy.   Vocalist Walter Heale commands and gives focus to the storm of myriad sounds and influences, expressive and excitable voice sparking like a livewire.  I must be honest and confess its not my cup of tea but putting personal tastes to one side its hard not to appreciate an album so accomplished, inspired and vibrant.'
